Where are you from and where did you grow up?

I am from Houston, Texas! I went to McGovern Medical School in Houston's incredible medical center and completed my dermatology residency training in Galveston at the University of Texas Medical Branch.

What is it about medicine that you love?

I love that medicine is about making a direct impact on people's lives. Being a doctor is not just about diagnosing or treating, it's about understanding a person as a whole. Medicine allows you to connect to people during their most vulnerable moments and offer them care and support.

Why did you choose to go into dermatology? What aspects do you love?

I am a very visual person, and I love being able to see how my patients' conditions evolve over time. It's always amazing to see how much a patient's rash or illness improves, and I enjoy seeing their reaction to how much better they have gotten. In the process, we form long-term relationships with the patients, which ultimately is the most rewarding of all! I also love the clinic setting and being able to do procedures, and Dermatology allows me to do both.

How would you describe your style as a doctor?

I am patient-centered. I believe in listening to my patients and understanding not just their symptoms, but also their concerns, emotions, and goals. I like to involve my patients in the decision-making process and coming up with treatment plans together, so that my patients feel empowered in their care.

How long have you been practicing and where?

I have been practicing medicine for 4 years. I completed my internal medicine internship at McGovern Medical School and dermatology residency at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston. I trained with a diverse patient population, which has made me a culturally competent clinician.

Do you have a personal motto/mantra?

My personal motto is "progress over perfection." It reminds me to focus on continuous growth rather than getting stuck in the pursuit of an unattainable ideal. Life is all about learning, changing, and moving forward. This mindset helps me embrace challenges and I see setbacks as opportunities for growth. I am motivated to always keep evolving.

Are you active in the community?

I plan to be an active member in the community and I am part of the Texas Dermatological Society and the Houston Dermatological Society. I cannot wait to give back to the community I grew up in. I am passionate about skin cancer screenings, which are an essential part of early detection. I want to educate the community about regular skin checks and encourage patients to regularly check their skin at home for any new or changing spots.

After work I enjoy…..

My husband and I enjoy cooking together, and it has become one of the most fulfilling parts of my day. There is something special about working together in the kitchen - sharing ideas, experimenting with new recipes, and learning from each other. We find joy in the simple things, like chopping vegetables side by side, and cooking has become our way to bond and unwind. We have just started to cook for our new daughter, and I am excited to create new memories in the kitchen with my family.
