WHERE ARE YOU FROM? I’m originally from Wisconsin and moved to Austin in 1987. I lived in Austin up until a year ago when I moved to Katy with my family
WHY DID YOU CHOOSE TO GO INTO DERMATOLOGY? I had such bad acne when I got to college that I tried to hide it with sun tanning which was a huge mistake! By my early 20’s my skin was a total wreck and I started seeing an aesthetician. She opened my eyes to a whole new part of dermatology I had never known existed. Now I love fixing skin issues, and in essence my job feels like I am paying it forward. I help people feel better about their skin and looks, it is very rewarding and motivating.
WHAT ASPECTS DO YOU LOVE? I love taking someone’s skin issues and improving them. I know what a relief it was when my skin starting improving and I love doing that for someone else. It’s such a gratifying feeling.
HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE YOUR STYLE AS AN AESTHETICIAN? I’m very results oriented, and experience has taught me which treatments will work best. I am always aiming at making a positive change in your skin whether it’s through chemical peels, laser treatments or just prescribing a great skincare regimen.
HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN PRACTICING AND WHERE? I came from Westlake Dermatology in Austin and have been a licensed medical aesthetician since 2001. I was very lucky to have had the training I received throughout the years and look forward to sharing my knowledge with my patients here in Houston.
WHAT ORGANIZATIONS ARE YOU APART OF? I’m a member of the American Association for Esthetics Education, Aesthetics International Association, and the American Society for Laser Medicine and Surgery. I believe that on-going education is important in the art of skin care, so I enjoy attending seminars and conferences annually to broaden my knowledge of the skincare industry.
DO YOU HAVE A PERSONAL MOTTO? Live life like there is no tomorrow.
WHAT ARE SOME THINGS THAT YOU LOVE ABOUT HOUSTON? I love the Downtown Aquarium, Crave cupcakes and I am especially excited that Houston will be hosting Super Bowl 51.
SOMETHING YOU FEEL PASSIONATE ABOUT…. I feel most passionate about being a mom to my two year old daughter. She was a miracle and I’ve never been so in love!
